Ranked by the line you ride.
Roomly is a discovery layer for renting in Indian metros, it scores every home by how close it sits to your metro line or college, then price, fit, and freshness, so the right room comes first instead of the loudest ad.
The problem we fix
Finding a room today is two broken searches. Portals (Magicbricks, 99acres) hand you ten thousand unranked listings behind a filter wall. Google Maps shows you dots but knows nothing about rent, room type, or your commute. And students, who think in campuses and budgets, not in localities, get nothing built for them at all.
Our moat, the RoomScore
Roomly unifies flats, PGs, co-living, hostels and serviced apartments from operators, portals and Airbnb into one ranked view, and scores each by walking distance to your transit line or campus, value for money, furnishing and freshness, a single RoomScore. You search the way a student actually thinks, “PG near GGSIPU under ₹12k”, “girls PG near DU”, “sasta kamra near IIT”, and we rank by walk-to-campus × value × fit.
Why that's hard to copy:
- A unified, transit- and campus-tagged dataset across many sources, continuously dead-link-filtered.
- A college / area / metro anchor graph (50+ campuses and colleges) plus a natural-language search that understands budget, bedrooms, gender, furnishing, in English and Hinglish, typos included.
- Live re-ranking: move the weights, and every room re-sorts to what you value.
No AI in the loop
Roomly's search and ranking are pure algorithms running over a real database, not an LLM. Every room you see is a genuine listing from a genuine source, never invented or hallucinated by a model. No model calls means it's fast, free to serve, and trustworthy, and it answers the same way every time. The intelligence lives in the logic, not in a model call.
Why we beat the two searches you'd otherwise use
Google Maps search
- Great at “what's near this point”
- Not a rental product, no rents, no PG vs co-living vs flat, no gender
- Can't rank homes by your commute and budget
- You can't ask it “girls PG near DU under ₹12k, ranked by walk”
Roomly
- Purpose-built rental discovery
- Every home scored by transit + price + fit
- Anchored to your college / metro, filtered to live listings
- Natural-language, student-first, on free open maps (OpenStreetMap)
Magicbricks search
- Huge inventory, but a filter wall
- Unranked / ad-sorted lists; transit is a filter, never the score
- No campus anchoring; PGs aren't unified with flats
- Plenty of stale / dead listings
Roomly
- Not more inventory, better relevance
- One RoomScore, campus-anchored, dead-links removed
- PGs, co-living, hostels and flats in one ranked view
- The right room first, in one search
Why we're a partner to Magicbricks, not a competitor
Roomly is a discovery layer, not a marketplace. We don't host transactions, take brokerage, or replace where a listing lives. Every result links back to its source, when a renter finds a Magicbricks, 99acres, SquareYards or operator home on Roomly, the click goes to them.
We're top-of-funnel: we add the transit-and-campus ranking they don't have, and send them qualified, ready-to-act demand, the way Trivago sends travellers to hotels or Google Flights sends flyers to airlines. Better discovery means more clicks and more business for the source. We grow the pie; we don't take a slice of it.
How we handle data, fairly
- We surface publicly available listing information for discovery, always with a link back to the original source.
- All brand names, trademarks and listing content belong to their owners. Roomly is independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any portal or operator.
- We respect source terms and robots directives, and we honour removal / opt-out requests promptly. See our Terms and Privacy Policy.
